Introduction
The ESP-WROOM-32 is a universal Wi-Fi+BT+BLE MCU module with powerful functions and wide applications. It can be used in low-power transmission networks and demanding tasks such as voice encoding, audio streaming, and MP3 decoding.
The core of this module is the ESP32-D0WDQ6 chip, which is scalable and adaptive. The two CPU cores can be controlled or powered on independently. The clock frequency can be adjusted in the range of 80MHz to 240MHz. Users can cut off the power supply of the CPU and use the low-power processor to continuously monitor the state changes of peripherals or whether certain analog quantities exceed the threshold. The ESP32 also integrates rich peripherals, including capacitive touch sensors, Hall sensors, low-noise sensing amplifiers, SD card interfaces, Ethernet interfaces, high-speed SDIO/SPUART, I2S and I2C, etc.

CPU and Memory
① 448 KB of ROM for program startup and kernel function calls.
② 520 KB of on-chip SRAM for data and instruction storage.
③ 8KB of SRAM in RTC, namely RTC slow memory, which can be accessed by the coprocessor in Deep-sleep mode.
④ 8KB of SRAM in RTC, namely RTC fast memory, which can be used for data storage when the RTC is started in Deep-sleep mode and accessed by the main CPU.
⑤1kbit eFuse, of which 256 bits are dedicated to the system (MAC address and chip Settings); the remaining 768 bits are reserved for user applications, including Flash encryption and chip ID.

Why choose the ESP32-WROOM-32E module over options like ESP32-WROOM-32 or ESP32-WROOM-32D?
First, models such as ESP32-WROOM-32 and ESP32-WROOM-32D have been officially marked as “not recommended.” They are not advised for new designs or part selections, as they may face discontinuation risks later. In contrast, the ESP32-WROOM-32E module is a recommended model (adopted since 2023).
Second, the core reason is that modules like ESP32-WROOM-32 and ESP32-WROOM-32D are made with ESP32 chips produced via outdated processes. While their application functions are comprehensive, they may contain known bugs. The newer ESP32-WROOM-32E offers better performance, has fixed the known bugs, and is compatible with existing programs.
