Introduction to PCA9685A PWM Module:
If you encounter a situation where the PWM output pins of the microcontroller chip are insufficient in a project, this PCA9685 16-channel servo module can quickly help you solve this problem. As long as your main control chip supports I2C communication, you can enable the main control to communicate with PCA9685, thereby realizing the simultaneous control of multiple servos.
The PCA9685 16-channel servo module adopts the I2C communication method and has a built-in PWM driver and clock, which is quite different from the TLCG940 series. You don’t need to continuously send signals to occupy the resources of the microcontroller. It is compatible with 5V systems, which means you can use a 3.3V microcontroller for control and can safely drive up to 6V output (if you want to control white or blue indicator lights, a positive voltage above 3.4V is also feasible). The address selection pins allow you to connect 62 driver boards to a single I2C bus, achieving a total of 992 PWM outputs, which is a very sufficient resource. It supports adjustable frequency PWM output of about 1.6KHz, provides 12-bit resolution output for stepper motors, and also has configurable push-pull output or open-drain output modes. The output enable pin can quickly disable all outputs.
Product Features
The PCA9685 chip is placed at the center of the small board. The power input terminal and the green power indicator light are matched with 4 sets of 3-pin connectors, allowing you to connect 16 servo motors at one time (the servo motor plug is slightly wider than the 0.1 specification, so 4 pairs of 0.1 specification connectors can be accommodated). The wiring board has input reverse protection.
A large capacitor is equipped on the V+ line (which will be useful in some scenarios), and the large voltage input from the periphery is supported by this 10V 1000μF capacitor. A 220-ohm resistor is set on all PWM output lines to protect the output terminals and can easily drive LEDs.
