Product Features

The dual-axis button joystick sensor module is made with PS2 joystick potentiometers and features (X, Y) 2-axis analog output and (Z) 1-channel button digital output. It can be used to create remote controls and other interactive projects when paired with an Arduino sensor expansion board. Additionally, to make it more convenient for customers to connect with standard interfaces such as Arduino expansion boards, the circuits for the X, Y, and Z axes are separately led out in the design. Users can directly plug in 3-pin Arduino dedicated wires to the expansion board for use.

Working Principle

Before introducing how to use it, let’s first take a look at its working principle. This will be very helpful for our use of it. Below is a functional schematic diagram.

In fact, this module is just a potentiometer. The data output of the X and Y dimensions is the voltage value read from the analog port. The data output of the Z dimension is not shown in this diagram. The Z dimension only outputs 0 and 1, which can be achieved through a button. In a nutshell, it is a combination of a potentiometer and a button. When using it in Arduino, we connect the X and Y dimensions to two analog ports to read their values, and the Z dimension to a digital port, and then connect the power supply and ground.
