What is 2.1 channel?

First of all, let me tell you what 2.0 channel audio is. A 2.0 channel speaker system is the most basic speaker system, which is also stereo. The dual channels are responsible for the audio output of the left and right channels respectively, and they are composed of the left channel and the right channel. When you listen to a song or a movie, these two channels will emit sounds to the left and right sides respectively, imitating the distribution of real-world sounds and providing you with an initial sense of direction.

2.1 channel audio is based on the 2.0 channel system and adds a subwoofer to handle low-frequency audio signals, enhancing the bass effect and providing a better background music experience.

What makes Bluetooth 5.1 more powerful than Bluetooth 5.0?

As a common wireless communication technology, Bluetooth is used for connection and data transmission within a short distance. But what are the differences in terms of improvements and functions among different versions of Bluetooth?

  • Bluetooth 5.0: The Revolutionary Base Version

Bluetooth 5.0 introduced technological improvements at the physical layer, including a doubling of the rate, a quadrupling of the range, and an eightfold increase in the broadcast data capacity. It also introduced low-energy broadcast and connection modes, as well as a new 2Mbps high-speed data transmission mode. With higher data transmission rates, longer transmission distances, and lower energy consumption, it has been widely applied in areas such as IoT devices and smart homes.

Key Upgrade Highlights:

  1. Transmission speed improvement: The theoretical speed reaches 2 Mbps, which is twice that of Bluetooth 4.2.
  2. Broadcast capacity increase: The broadcast data transmission volume has increased by 800%, reaching 255 bytes.
  3. Low power consumption optimization: While maintaining high performance, it further reduces energy consumption.

Bluetooth 5.0 is particularly suitable for smart home scenarios, such as smart light bulbs and door locks, etc. Its enhanced broadcasting capability provides better support for Beacon technology and indoor positioning.

  • Bluetooth 5.1: A breakthrough in precise positioning

Bluetooth 5.1 introduces directional signal function, which enables precise positioning of the device direction and supports high-precision positioning services. It can achieve positioning accuracy at the centimeter level, and at the same time introduces a new LE broadcast extension, which can provide more data during broadcasting, and can obtain more information from other devices before connection. It also provides GATT cache to accelerate the communication speed between devices. It is very valuable for indoor navigation, location services and augmented reality applications.

Key technological innovation:

  1. Directional Search Function (AoA/AoD): Achieves centimeter-level positioning through angle of arrival (AoA) and angle of departure (AoD) technologies.
  2. Advertising Channel Index: Enhances the efficiency of device discovery and connection.
  3. GATT Cache Improvement: Optimizes the connection stability of low-power Bluetooth.

This version has significantly promoted the development of applications such as indoor navigation and item tracking, enabling Bluetooth technology to have the ability to compete with UWB in the positioning service field.

Introduction to Audio Input Mode

(1) Two audio input methods: The first is Bluetooth input, and the second is AUX input. Bluetooth mode takes precedence. In either mode, Bluetooth can be connected.

(2) Once the Bluetooth connection is successful, it is in Bluetooth mode, and Bluetooth mode supports automatic reconnection. When there is no Bluetooth connection, the AUX insertion indicates AUX mode. It should be noted that when using the AUX mode, it is necessary to confirm that the Bluetooth connection of this module has been disconnected.

How should the power amplifier and the speaker be matched?

When configuring a suitable power amplifier for a speaker, two main aspects need to be considered: the power matching and the impedance matching between the speaker and the amplifier.

  • Power matching depends on the application scenario and is related to the signal dynamic range.

Dynamic range refers to the range between the minimum and maximum values of a signal. The larger this range is, the greater the difference in strength, and the greater the signal fluctuation. For instance, when we speak normally, the volume usually doesn’t change significantly, indicating that the dynamic range variation is relatively small.

Power ratio of 1:1 : In language-related amplification scenarios such as meetings and teaching, the 1:1 (speaker: amplifier) power matching can be adopted. That is, the power of the selected speaker determines the power of the amplifier to be used.

Power ratio of 1:2 : If it is a venue with music signals such as KTV, bars, or music festivals, the signal dynamic range is relatively large. Therefore, a power ratio of 1:2 (speaker: amplifier) or even a higher ratio should be adopted. For example, if the rated power of the selected speakers is 300W and they are used in a KTV room, then at least a power amplifier with an output power of 600W should be equipped.

Power ratio of 1:1.2 ~ 1.5 : For venues such as multi-function halls and auditoriums, which are mainly used for audio amplification for speeches and occasionally for entertainment activities, the signal dynamic changes are not too significant. Therefore, a power ratio of 1:1.2 ~ 1.5 can be adopted.

  • Impedance matching

The impedance of common amplifying speakers usually includes values such as 16Ω, 8Ω, and 4Ω. Once the speaker is finalized, its impedance value remains constant. However, the power amplifier varies, its output power changes according to the impedance of the connected speaker.

For example, this speaker has a power of 300W and an impedance of 8Ω. If the power ratio is 1:1, then a power amplifier with an output power of 300W when connected to a load with an impedance of 8Ω should be provided. If the two speakers are connected in parallel, the impedance becomes 4Ω and the total power becomes 600W. It then depends on whether this power amplifier can output 600W of power when the load is 4Ω.

FAQ

Q: How should a power amplifier and a speaker be matched?

A: When configuring a suitable power amplifier for a speaker, two main aspects need to be considered: the power matching between the speaker and the amplifier, and the impedance matching.

The power matching also depends on the usage scenario and is related to the signal dynamic range. The dynamic range refers to the range between the minimum and maximum values of the signal. The larger this range is, the greater the difference in strength, and the greater the fluctuation of the signal. For example, the volume of our normal speech usually does not change significantly.

Q: How to adjust the subwoofer?

A: The SUBWOOFER-VOLUME knob is used to control the volume of the subwoofer. Turning it to the right increases the volume, and turning it to the left decreases the volume. The SUBWOOFER-FREQUENCY knob is used to control the cutoff frequency of the subwoofer. Turning it to the right increases the frequency, and turning it to the left decreases the frequency.

Q: If the volume is low, there’s no problem. But when the volume gets louder, does the sound become muffled?

A: The sound has become distorted. Please reduce the total volume or replace with a power adapter of a higher voltage level.

Q: If the sound is quiet, is there any problem when the volume is increased? Does it experience a lagging sound phenomenon?

A: The input power supply is insufficient. The power supply has intermittent power-off protection function. Please replace with a power supply of a higher power. It could also be that the power is too high, causing the power amplifier board to overheat and resulting in thermal protection. Reduce the power usage or enhance the heat dissipation.

Q: What factors affect the quality of sound?

A: The quality of sound is not only related to the power amplifier module, but also to the power supply, audio source, and the entire audio system. Basically, every component of the audio system can influence the sound quality. The main components include audio transmission lines, audio power supply, tuning circuits, power amplifier circuits, speakers, and the surrounding environment. Only when the audio source, power supply, power amplifier module, and speakers are matched, will the sound quality be the best.

Q: How to adjust the main volume?

A: The MAIN-VOLUME knob is used to adjust the main volume. Turning it to the right increases the main volume, while turning it to the left decreases it. The main volume affects the volume of both the left and right channels as well as the subwoofer.

Q: How to adjust the high and low frequencies of the left and right channels?

A: The R&LCHANNEL-BASS knob controls the bass. Turning it to the right increases the bass, and turning it to the left reduces the bass. When the knob is at the far right position, neither the bass nor the high frequencies are enhanced or attenuated. The R&LCHANNEL-TREBLE knob controls the treble. Turning it to the right enhances the treble, and turning it to the left reduces the treble. When the knob is in the middle position, neither the treble nor the bass is enhanced or attenuated. When adjusting the high and low frequencies, please note: When the treble or bass is turned to the right to reach the maximum level and the sound becomes distorted, it indicates that the gain of the treble or bass is too high. In this case, you need to turn the treble or bass knob to the left to reduce the gain or turn the right MAIN-VOLUME knob to the left to decrease the total volume.
