Introduction

The RC522 is a wireless card reader used in the RFID field. RFID is widely adopted because it can read data wirelessly, eliminating the complicated operation procedures of traditional card readers. For example, access control card readers and NFC all use RFID to read data from IC cards without physical contact.

The RC522 implements RFID functionality through its built-in IC, requiring no control from the MCU at all. The MCU only needs to perform initial setup and periodically check if the RC522 has new data. Alternatively, you can use the RC522’s interrupt output interface, which sends an interrupt signal when a card is detected. By modifying the MCU’s code, you can reduce the system’s resource usage.

The RC522 communicates with the MCU via SPI, which enhances communication efficiency and stability.
