Product Introduction
The QRE1113 sensor module features digital output and uses a capacitor discharge circuit to measure reflection. When only I/O ports are available, this compact board is highly suitable for line sensing and can be used in 3.3V and 5V systems.
The QRE1113 infrared reflectance sensor consists of two parts – an LED that emits infrared and a phototransistor sensitive to infrared. When you supply power to the VCC and GND pins, the IRLED inside the sensor will light up. A 100Ω resistor is mounted on the board and placed in series with the LED to limit the current. The output of the phototransistor is connected to a 10nF capacitor. The faster a capacitor discharges, the greater the reflectivity of its surface. These sensors are widely used in production line tracking robots.
The white surface reflects more light than the black surface. Therefore, when the capacitor is directed at a white surface, its discharge speed is faster than when it is directed at a black surface.
